Personal Tax / T1

Personal tax preparation with the whole picture in view.

Canadian T1 preparation built around your actual records and the people or businesses connected to them.

In short

What this means

Rybair prepares Canadian T1 personal income tax returns for individuals, professionals, business owners and families within an agreed scope. We first identify the tax year, income sources, supporting records and any related business, rental or corporate work; unusual matters are assessed before acceptance.

Gather the records behind the return

Employment and other income slips are a starting point, not the entire picture. We agree what supporting records are needed, organize questions about missing or inconsistent information and distinguish confirmed figures from items awaiting your response.

  • Income slips and other supporting documents for the agreed year
  • Ownership and business context where it affects the information we need
  • A list of missing records and decisions before the return is finalized
  • A documented review and approval handoff

Connect personal and business records

An owner's personal return may depend on company records, compensation and other information prepared elsewhere. We can coordinate the handoff with your bookkeeper or corporate tax preparer, agreeing which records and returns are in scope rather than assuming one engagement includes all of them.

Give rentals and self-employment their own records

Rental income and expenses may require a T776 as part of a T1; sole-proprietor business activity may require a T2125. Those records deserve a separate review of income, costs and ownership. Explore the dedicated rental and self-employed services to see how each starts from its underlying books.

Assess investment and historical complexity first

Investment transactions and capital-gain records can require more detail than a summary slip provides. Prior-year gaps, unusual transactions or cross-border facts are reviewed before we accept the work, involve a suitable specialist or decline an unsuitable scope. This page does not determine tax treatment from generic examples.

Review, approve and agree the filing step

We identify outstanding questions, prepare the in-scope return for review and confirm who authorizes and files it. Electronic filing is not represented as operational until the applicable EFILE and software setup is active. Filing and payment responsibilities are agreed before work begins.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can you prepare my personal return alongside my company's tax work?

We can assess the T1 and company records together, then agree the separate T1, T2 and bookkeeping responsibilities before accepting either scope.

What if I have rental income?

We can review the property records and scope T776 preparation as part of a T1. Monthly portfolio reporting or advisory is a separate recurring service.

Do you handle investments or a prior-year gap?

We review the records and complexity first. Matters needing specialist input or historical cleanup are scoped separately or referred as appropriate.

Will you electronically file my return?

We confirm the filing method and responsibility during engagement. We do not represent electronic filing as currently operational until the required setup is active.

Service scope, access, responsibilities and delivery dates are agreed in writing. Tax, payroll and jurisdiction-sensitive work is assessed before engagement; assurance and legal services are not included.

Talk through the records behind your return.

A short consultation is enough to understand your systems, your deadlines and where the friction is. No obligation, no pressure.
