Professional Services

Know what each engagement earns—and when cash arrives.

Clearer project results and cash visibility for firms built on people and expertise.

In short

What this means

Rybair helps consultants, agencies, engineers, architects, recruitment firms, incorporated professionals and similar service businesses connect client work, billing, payroll and collections to monthly books and planning. Project profitability is useful when time, costs and billing status can be traced to the work.

Connect projects to the financial result

We can assess time, project expenses and billing records to build client or project profitability views. Work in progress (WIP) and unbilled time depend on the available data and agreed accounting policy; hours worked are not automatically earned revenue.

  • Project and client revenue and direct-cost coding
  • Time, billing and WIP schedules where appropriate
  • Overhead and utilization views where the data supports them
  • Clear treatment of estimated versus reconciled results

Make collections and commitments visible

Open invoices, ageing, retainers or deposits and work awaiting billing all affect cash. We can reconcile receivables to the ledger and show what is due, what has been collected and what is still contingent on a milestone. Retainers and deposits follow the contract and agreed accounting treatment; this page does not offer regulated legal trust accounting.

Keep the people costs in the picture

Payroll, contractors and owner compensation need supporting records and clear responsibilities. We can connect payroll and contractor costs to the books and coordinate owner-compensation questions with the agreed tax scope. Professional corporation or multi-entity arrangements are assessed case by case, with specialist input where required.

Link books, tax and planning

T1, T2 and GST/HST work can be scoped alongside bookkeeping so the underlying records and filing responsibilities are clear. A cash-flow forecast can connect expected client receipts, payroll and tax commitments. Budgets can compare utilization, staffing and overhead assumptions with actuals where the records support that view.

Grow from month-end to advice

As the firm adds people, service lines or entities, reporting and approvals may need to change. We can scope project-level reporting, finance operations and advisory around pricing, hiring or capacity scenarios—without presenting assumptions as guaranteed outcomes.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can you show profitability by client or project?

We assess how time, billing and direct costs are recorded, then agree an allocation basis. Where the data is incomplete, we label the limits rather than show a misleading margin.

How do you handle unbilled time and retainers?

We review the contract, source records and agreed accounting policy before maintaining WIP or deposit schedules. Regulated legal trust accounting is not offered on this page.

Can you help an incorporated professional with tax and compensation?

We can assess bookkeeping, payroll and tax-coordination needs, then confirm the jurisdiction and specialist review required before accepting the work.

When does a growing firm need forecasts?

A forecast can help when collections, hiring or capacity decisions have cash consequences. We use documented assumptions and update the plan against actual results at an agreed cadence.

Service scope, access, responsibilities and delivery dates are agreed in writing. Tax, payroll and jurisdiction-sensitive work is assessed before engagement; assurance and legal services are not included.
